Younger People With Dementia

"Little Rock"

CHALLENGE

Young onset dementia is rarely talked about, and even less understood.

For families, it doesn’t just change one life, it reshapes everything – especially for children forced to grow up faster than they should.

The challenge was to tell that story with honesty and care, without dramatising or simplifying the reality, and to create a film that could carry the weight of a national awareness campaign.

CREATE

Written and directed by Nick Tree, who spent weeks listening to children and young people living with a parent with dementia – shaping a story grounded in truth.

“As a father and a son, these stories broke my heart. I wanted to capture their truth with absolute integrity. Little Rock shows that dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed, it reshapes entire families and can steal parts of childhood too.”

Through music, memory and the shifting roles within their family, the film captures the painful beauty of love that endures even when recognition begins to disappear.
